on iphone, the depth effect may require some trial and error:::

while i know as much about it or even less than you do, here are a few tips that made it work on my old iphone se:::

– try repositioning the photo (pinch and/or drag with two fingers)

– try the android version (pinch and/or drag)

– if nothing else works, try slightly cropping the bottom of the photo using the photo app

and i hope that by the time you read this, the depth effect works better and apple provides clearer documentation on the trial-and-error nature of it:::
